The Gateless Road
Despite their membership of Free Council Libertines, the Gateless Road has managed to accrue some power in occupied Berlin. The Road’s wizards take it upon themselves to discover the newly awakened and tutor them. To avoid irking their fellows, they only rarely accept new members from these novices, preferring to form them into their own cabals, or apprenticing them to more established groups. The tact has blunted some criticisms, but raised others, in that the Road is often accused of planting spies among all the other cabals, or is buying influence in other orders with their goodwill.
The Free Council tradition of Assembly hasn’t been invoked in years; many of the mages that made up the Order’s ranks fell victim to or fled the purges of dissenters and undesirables. With the war over, many Libertines are agitating for a new Assembly to be formed, but the Gateless Road is conspicuously silent on this topic. What news of the Council comes out of surrounding consilii paints a dour picture. Where the pogrom failed to erase the Free Council, the Pentacle finished the job. A few Road acolytes suggest that the cabal once spoke of a “free European Assembly”, where the combined power of the Free Council broke the hold of the Pentacle, but the hopes of the Gateless Road leading that assembly are dashed.
The councilor from the Gateless Road is a wizened old warlock called Fragesteller, and his provost is a Moros by the shadow name Tamigino.
